Creating models FAQs

This FAQ section provides answers to users questions on the following topics:

  • Creating and describing Code_TYMPAN geometrical elements;
  • Acoustical data definition;
  • Calculation models parameters.

The origin for coordinates for cylinders is located at the center of gravity. The default position for cylinder is Z=0 so that the cylinder of height H will enter the ground. 

The height of a mesh is defined from the ground level. It has to be defined via the mesh properties. The Z position property is not effective for meshes (the value always equals 0).

In the Manage Sites Window, right click on the sub site you want to delete and choose delete.

Two ways:

  • In the building modeler, right-click on the Floor and change the height property;
  • In the Manage Sites window - Right-click on the Floor or Screen, choose properties and change the height.

Code_TYMPAN topography is built using a Delaunay triangulation between the points of the contour polylines. This option allows to add points on a contour line to locally better describe the geometry. 

A building may includes noise sources (machines or point sources). These noise sources can have different working conditions defined by different sound power levels. The building working conditions allows to define different combinations of the noise sources working conditions.

If a building includes 2 machines A and B, and if each machine owns 2 working conditions 1 and 2, you can use working conditions of the building corresponding to, e.g.:

  • Building working condition 1 = Machine A working condition 1 + Machine B working condition 2
  • Building working condition 2 = Machine A working condition 1 + Machine B working condition 1
  • Building working condition 3 = Machine A working condition 2 + Machine B working condition 1
  • Building working condition 3 = Machine A working condition 2 + Machine B working condition 2

Inside absorption properties are used to calculate the reverberant field inside the building. Outside absorption properties are used to calculate the reflexion strength of building walls.

By default the material for building are the same for outside and inside faces but they can be customized.
